A child steps through and visits three eras of Bern's history: 1530 (meeting clockmaker Kaspar Brunner), 1405 (escaping the great fire), and 1200 (watching the city gate being built). They must return before the 13th chime fades.

A child discovers Einstein's forgotten notebook in the apartment at Kramgasse 49 and rides a beam of light past frozen Bern landmarks -- the Zytglogge, the Muenster, the Aare. As the light races away from the clock tower, time itself bends, and the child understands why one patent clerk's spare-time scribbles changed the universe.

The dancing bears of the clock tower

One of the mechanical dancing bears on the Zytglogge gets stuck and cannot join the hourly dance. A child must climb inside the ancient clockwork to fix the jammed gears -- discovering Kaspar Brunner's 1530 masterpiece from within -- so that all the bears can dance together once more.

A child follows clues from fountain to fountain across Bern's old town, visiting all 11 of Hans Gieng's historic creations. Each fountain whispers a fragment of the Kindlifresser's true identity. At the end of the trail, the child discovers that the fearsome 'ogre' was really a protector all along -- guarding a secret beneath the Kornhausplatz.

A bear captured at the Battle of Novara in 1513 escapes from its handlers on the way to Bern. A child must find the runaway bear across medieval Bern -- through the Lauben arcades, past the Zytglogge, over the Aare bridges -- before Bartholomaeus May's grand procession begins at the city gates.
